Pune: Lipid Association of India’s 11th National Conference Concludes with Groundbreaking Insights

LAI 11th National Conference Pune

Pune’s medical and research community marked a significant milestone as the Lipid Association of India (LAI) wrapped up its 11th National Conference, LAICON, at the Hyatt Regency. This two-day event attracted around 200 delegates from across India, alongside notable international faculty from the USA, UK, Sri-Lanka, and Bangladesh. A major highlight was the unveiling of the latest Statement Consensus-IV, a pivotal publication in the International Journal of Lipidology, aimed at combating cardiovascular diseases, India’s leading cause of mortality.

The conference showcased the collective wisdom of approximately 40 distinguished scientists, including cardiologists and specialists from India and abroad, who have extensively researched and developed strategies that veer from traditional Western guidelines, which have proven less effective for the Indian ancestry.

Key figures such as LAI Founder President Dr. Raman Puri, Dr. Sadanand Shetty (Scientific Chairman), Dr. Vinod Vijan (Chairman of the Organising Committee & National Advisor), and Dr. Rashida Melinkeri (Secretary of the National Conference), among others, expressed their satisfaction and confidence in the conference’s outcomes and its future impact on global health perspectives.

LAI’s growing international significance was underscored by its newfound affiliation with the Association of American Cardiologists of Indian Origin (AACIO), reflecting a burgeoning global recognition. Furthermore, Dr. Bharti Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, lauded LAI’s cardiological advancements and their commitment to reversing the escalating trend of heart diseases.
