Heavy rain and thunderstorm likely in Gujarat, Maharashtra over weekend: IMD

Rain in Gujarat Maharashtra

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Gujarat and Maharashtra may receive scattered to widespread, light to moderate rainfall along with isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorm during the approaching weekend on 8th and 9th of this month.

It also predicted isolated, very heavy rainfall over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana in Rayalaseema on 6th October. Fairly widespread and isolated heavy rainfall is also likely to occur over Bihar, Andaman Islands, Sub–Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 6th to 8th and Odisha on 6th and 9th of October 2022.

AMD attributed this rainfall activity to a weather system forming over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and the neighborhood. It said there is a cyclonic circulation in these areas and a trough runs from the cyclonic circulation over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighborhood to Central Uttar Pradesh along Telangana, Vidarbha and West Madhya Pradesh. Another cyclonic circulation lies over central parts of South Bay of Bengal in the middle tropospheric levels.
