Twin Cyclonic Circulations Over Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal Likely to Bring Heavy Rainfall in These Regions: IMD

Heavy Rainfall Between 14th to 18th October

There are simultaneous cyclonic circulations over Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. Another cyclonic circulation is expected to form over Andaman Sea around 18th of this month.  


A combination of these weather systems may cause moderate to heavy rainfall in the following regions between 14th and 18th October. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Some of these places may witness extremely heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightening.

However, in Central and Northwest India, mostly dry weather will prevail during this period, IMD noted.


Monsoon Withdrawal Status

IMD mentioned in its daily weather report that the withdrawal of monsoon has taken place from parts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. Conditions are looking to become favorable for further withdrawal of the monsoon from the remaining parts of Central India, Maharashtra, Eastern India, and some regions of Northeast India in the next few days.
