Indians are the Highest Earning Ethnic Group in the US: Harsh Goenka Explains Why
According to the most recent US Census data, an average Indian household earns $123,700, or slightly more than 1 crore, as reported by PTI. There, the median income of Indians is about double the national average of $63,922, that makes them the highest earning ethnic group in the US.
Harsh Goenka, an industrialist, has taken to Twitter to explain why Indians earn the most in the United States. In his tweet, he published an infographic on the median household income by ethnicity in the United States.

According to Goenka, Indians are the best educated ethnic group because they respect education. He noted that Indians work extremely hard and have thrifty habits. “We are clever. We are in information technology, engineering, and medical, the highest-paying fields”, he tweeted.
The infographic contains American Community Survey 2013-15 data from the U.S. Census Bureau. According to the data, the median household income of Indian-Americans is $100,000, or 81.28 lakh at the current exchange rate. Chinese-Americans and Pakistani-Americans had median salaries of $69,100 and $66,200, respectively, placing them at the bottom of the list.
Goenka’s tweet, however invited mixed reactions. While some expressed their feeling of pride, others had a different view. A Twitter user commented, “Is it something to be proud of? It just shows our country has talented people but are forced to go to far country to reap benefits. If they had same opportunities in India, would they have left their home?”
Another user, seemingly from the US, remarked, “All very true statements. Also true is that mostly only the very best and brightest are enabled and allowed to come. Our gain, your loss!!”

The fact however remains that despite all logic and reasoning, Indians are the highest earning ethnic group in the US, which is not an easy feat, given the high level of competition in the US from the best brains from around the world. There must be some way though, to utilize this talent for the betterment of our home country, India!!
